Ms. Mara's Class Assmebly

Olivia's school has a new principal this year.  He seems absolutely fantastic so far.  He is full of energy and great ideas.  One idea he brought to ACS is every month have a student lead assembly.  The students from one class show off their theatrical, literary, technical, and collaborative skills.  He explained that he feels it is quite important for kids to present in front of an audience, gaining self confidence. Last month it was Ms. Mara's class' turn.  We were so happy that Olivia's class didn't go until after we got here.  The assembly was so well done and just too cute.

The first thing they did was act out the story Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock by Eric A. Kimmel.  Olivia was a lion.  She insisted she wear dress with yellow on it that morning, because lions are yellow. :)

Next, the class made a book, "It Looked Like Bubble Gum".  Each child contributed a page.  At the assembly, they played a slideshow of each page with the child reading it aloud.  All of the children loved seeing the page with the picture of the author and hearing the voices over the speakers.  Olivia's page:

"Sometimes it looked like a kitten, but it was not a kitten"

The last thing they did was show a video of clips of her class dancing in all different places around campus set to, "Happy" by Pharrel.  It was ridiculously precious!  If you want to see it and seriously smile, click here!
