License Plates

So apparently, when you have more money than you know what to do with over here, you buy special license plate numbers.  I knew that license plate number 1 went for a large sum of money, but I didn't know it went for 14.2 MILLION dollars!!!  I just read this:

The UAE holds the world record for the most expensive number plate ever auctioned - Plate No. 1, was auctioned for a staggering Dh52.5 million in Abu Dhabi in February 2008 as part of Emirates Auctions' charity drive, which sold 90 number plates in a series of auctions to raise Dh88.15 million ($24m) for accident victims.
  
Well, at least it went to charity.  Driving around we have seen only a couple single digits and they have both been on a Rolls Royce.  Here is a photo of number 5.  Who knows how much this guys paid for that one little number.
