International Day

Olivia's school, while it is an "American School", is very culturally diverse.  One reason we are so happy our kids get to experience living overseas is the exposure to so many various cultures and all of the diversity. ACS had a truly awesome International Day celebration.  The children were encouraged to wear their national dress and were given a "passport" to get stamped at each of the 40 countries' booths,  all set out along the perimeter of the soccer field.  The booths had food to try, examples of national dress, crafts, etc.  It was so very cool.

O with Tala and Nina, two of her friends from her class.

At the American booth!  They served bbq sandwiches and apple pie

We had to make a stop at the Canadian booth!  They had Tim Horton's doughnuts

We invited Linda to come along.  She and Nonna were so helpful keeping up with Little Bit

At the Syrian booth.  They had a ton of great Arabic food.  They had their version of a quesadilla (saj) that is super yummy!  Olivia's friend Tala (pictured here) is an American of Syrian descent.

South American dancers--Olivia was in awe of her headpiece

Eliza and Nonna waiting for the parade of nations.  Over 60 countries were represented.

The largest group in the parade, the Americans went last

There is my American girl!
