George

Our sweet sweet friends, The Grings, got some devastating news.  Their son, George, a good friend of Olivia's who was in her class last year at Chapelwood, is in her class this year at Frostwood, and is apart of our awesome "bus stop crew", sadly was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma.  A really rare, but seemingly treatable form of cancer.  It was such a shock to us all, just heartbreaking to have to go through.  He complained of a tummy ache for a few weeks, went to the doctor on a Monday and was receiving his first round of chemo later that week.

It has been truly amazing to see this community rally around this lovely family.  I wanted to do something, anything to help.  I asked my good friend Emily (the third piece to the "bus stop crew") if she wanted to help me get the kids in their class make something for George's hospital room.  We decided to get the kids to make a picture frame ornament and use those to decorate a mini Christmas tree for his hospital room.  Some other mom's also got all of the kindergarten kids to make a giant card for him.  It was so wonderful to see his little face light up reading all of the messages his friends had written for him.  It is times like these, you just want to help in as many ways as you can.

We too pictures of each kiddo for their ornament.  Olivia and Katherine decided they just wanted a picture together :)

I think they turned out so cute!  Each child made the ornament, then wrote a little message for him on a card.

He is truly "Mighty George"!  His tumor shrunk over 50% after only one round of chemo!!!!
