Our next stop was Avignon, a quint city in Provence that was just lovely.
I included this photo to show how we "roll" while traveling. Two strollers, deep in cobblestones checking out the sights. This is where the popes lived during the 1300's, during the Avignon Papacy.
Palais des Papes (Popes Palace).
Sharing our audio guide. Love my sweet girl and her enthusiasm to always learn about where we are.
Love this: three audio guide listeners and a picture drawer
Later that afternoon, we visited a local winery, Chateau la Nerthe. Very cool private tour and excellent wine
Peek a boo!
Beautiful Chateau
Later later that afternoon we went to Orange and visited the Théâtre antique d'Orange, one of the best preserved Roman theaters in the world.
O and MPR climbed to the top!
E striking a pose near the outside wall of the theatre
After a bath, we went to a super yummy restaurant back in Avignon. We loved the patio and the rosé!
The next day at Le Beaux en Provence, super cool ruined castle. I think we got close to 20,000 steps this day!

One of the many high points we hiked up to
Posing in front of some lavender
We told her this is where you go for time out!
Anther super high hike. Aunt Murf and Eliza decided to skip this one.
So cool!
Thankfully, E didn't make it. I was worried about O coming down the steep steps
Then we went to the most interesting "light show". This was called Quarries of Lights. They projected great art masterpieces on the walls of a stone quarry. It is hard to explain, but it was spectacular! The show is about an hour and is a changing slideshow. SO cool!
Next stop, The Amphitheater of Nimes
The Amphitheater of Nimes
Maison Carree, a very well preserved Roman Temple
Pont du Garde, very cool ancient Roman aqueduct
We stayed at the absolute coolest and most unique place we have ever stayed in. It was just amazing. It was owed by two interior designers that used to live there, and now live at this mansion located next door. This mansion has had many past lives, the most recent being a school. They are in the process of renovating it to be their home and an event venue.
The far wall in this picture dates back to the 1300's when the land was home to the cardinals during the Avignon Papacy.
The super fabulous living room we spent every night after the girls went to bed.
The view from the from sitting room
Front sitting room. This was an artist studio at some point and they had some of his sculptures in the flat

No detail was overlooked.
They incorporated antique doors and windows throughout
Combined with super modern features

Lovely dinner spot!
So pretty!
We were so excited to be in Provence during lavender season. It was just beautiful and so fragrant!
Driving along, we stopped at impressive canyon, Gorges Du Verdon.
