Xi'an

Those huge smiles are a product of going to an Italian Restaurant and not Chinese!  We arrived somewhat late, too late to venture too far into the city for dinner.  Happy girls! We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in a family room.  It was really two giant hotel rooms, one of which had the largest bed I have ever seen in my life.  It was lovely after the not so lovely, Hutong in Beijing.  Too bad we only stayed one night.

The reason we are here! The Terracotta Warriors

 AMAZING!

These are replica Terracotta warriors in the gift shop.  It was good to get a close up look at how each one is different.

Cherry Blossoms

This one is called The Kneeling Archer.  It is in the second pit area, and still has traces of paint on it

One of the artifacts found in the pit

On top of the Xi'an ancient city wall.

Eliza and MPR testing out to see if a double bike would work....it didn't, much to her sadness

Olivia giving it a try

We visited the Muslim district of Xi'an.

Deep fried all kinds of things

Beautiful area of the city

Our hilarious tour guide, Kathy, dropping us at the train station to catch an overnight train to Shanghai

I loved this! A place to get free boiled water for tea and noodles before getting on the train

The girls thought this was the coolest thing ever.  It was actually kind of fun.  It was clean, which was huge for me.  A nice clean white duvet can make a lot of things okay for me!

Our little cabin

The girls watched movies and we had cocktails...everybody's happy!

So silly!

The next morning getting off the train.  We all got a fair amount of sleep
