We have been watching the tree that got struck by lightning, hoping against hope, to see how it was fairing. Unfortunately, it didn't make it. We had an aborist come take it down. We were all fascinated to see how they do it (even Eliza!). It was a really tall pine that was very close to the house. I was curious to see how they would bring it down without anything hitting the house. We first just stepped outside to watch the man climb the tree. We were all so interested, we got a blanket from inside and came out and watched the whole thing. I am sure they loved the audience ;) We counted over 30 rings on the stump. So sad.

After cutting several of the larger branches, he lopped off the entire top of the tree. The guys at the bottom guided it down with a pulley system.

Then he just started cutting huge logs and letting them fall, pushing them away from the house.
