3 Months!

How cute am I?!?

She gets so tickled by just about anything and I love it! I can't even tell you how lucky I feel to have two sweet, healthy girls that I just adore. We are having so much fun. It just couldn't get any better!

3 Month Stats:

Weight: 11 lbs 10 oz ------- 25th Percentile
Height: 24.6 in -------------65th Percentile
Head: 39 centimeters-------??

They are slightly concerned about her drop in weight from 50th to 25th percentile. We will check her progress at her 4 month check-up. I am not used to non-huge babies!

This just lights up my day:

Wheels!

Boy do we have some wheels around here now! Too bad the snow will be here in a little more than two months from now. She had lots of fun in the front and Ducky taught her how to steer all of her various wheels.

She and Pong Pong built a "nest" out of pine cones and sticks for the birds (one of her favorite books right now is "Are you My Mother?"

So excited about her nest! She was later VERY upset the wind had knocked down her nest.

Jurassic Forest

We took the hour long trip just outside of Edmonton to see the dinosaurs at Jurassic Forest! It is so fun and really well done. We heard one of the employees say that it is the only thing of its kind in the world. There were plans for one in Dubai, but the funding fell through. There are two trails that you walk along to see the animatronic dinosaurs. In the middle there is a giant sandbox with lots of dinosaur "bones", "eggs", and skulls to climb on.

Ducky and Pong Pong

We were so excited to have Ducky and Pong Pong come and visit us in Edmonton. I know they were, of course, thrilled to see us and the girls, but so happy to get out of the Texas heat wave! We had such a fantastic time with them and loved just hanging out around Edmonton.

Olivia loved having Ducky put her hair in pigtails

More the next day!

Dress Up

Olivia has really started showing an interest in dressing up lately. We are markedly under-equipped in our dressing up gear. I am trying to avoid all things "princess" for as long as I can, so when she gets all dressed up, she says she looks like a "ballerina" :) She comes up with lots of creative outfits with things like winter hats, floaties, and baby sister's wrist rattles!

Eliza's Serious Side :)

Apples!

We have an apple tree in our backyard! We originally thought they were crab apples because they are so small. Thankfully, our trusty Canadian friends, Carolyn and Marc, let us know that they were actually true apples. Olivia is thrilled to be able to go out and have a snack off of her tree anytime she wants. We made a yummy apple crisp with our bumper crop.

WHY?

We have entered the world of "WHY?".

Sample conversation:

Olivia: "Mommy, where is Baby Eliza?"
SSR: "She is asleep"
Olivia: "Why is she asleep?"
SSR: "Because she is tired"
Olivia: "Why is she tired"
SSR: "Because she was up all night eating"
Olivia: "Why was she up all night eating?"
SSR: "Because she was hungry last night"
Olivia: "Why was she hungry last night?"

It goes on and on and on :)

Eliza Found Her Voice

Hearing these sweet sounds has really made both Mike and I stop and realize how unbelievably excited we are to journey through all these firsts with our second sweet baby girl! It keeps getting more and more fun!!

Library

Not sure why it took me so long, but we FINALLY got Olivia a library card! She has been in Houston, but for whatever reason, maybe because I thought we were moving, I never took her to get her own card here in Canada. She had a fantastic time choosing her books and has loved reading them at home.

Trees

Unfortunately, it seems Olivia inherited our fine motor skills. Mike and I both have horrible hand writing and can't even draw a stick figure. This is the first time Olivia has drawn anything that is recognizable. It was a momentous night. Here are her two trees!

Stories

Eliza woke up the other day during one of her naps and I asked Olivia if she would go up and "QUIETLY give Eliza her paci to put her back to sleep". After about 3 minutes of rustling, this is what I found when I went up there. Olivia said she wanted her to read her some baby stories from her bookshelf instead of her paci :)

I love the look on Eliza's face

Potty Training SUCCESS!!

On a whim, I decided we had nothing going on this week, why not give potty training another try. I was hesitant to try again after last time's UTI. Monday morning I told Olivia the plan with no pressure--we were going to quit wearing diapers and use the potty!! After a couple accidents Monday morning, she got it! She has been accident free ever since! All it took was the one success. Day 4 and I don't even have to remind her, she just goes when she needs to. Woo hoo Olivia!

I read somewhere that if you don't want to be potty trained yourself (reminding your child all the time to go potty) AND if you want to train in just a couple days, wait until they are three. I guess that is why I wasn't in a big hurry. It sure was easy! She is so proud of herself and so are we!

Calling Nonna and Papa to share her big news! "Guess what I just did, Papa??? I just went tee tee on the potty! And I got a Dora treat and a Swiper treat. Yeah, I'm a big girl" :)

Weekend Lunches

We used to eat out a lot. Now that we have two little ones, eating out at night isn't the most fun outing anymore. The girls are much happier (read--Mommy and Daddy get to both eat calmly and at the same time) during the day. We unknowingly have started a weekend ritual of having a late lunch at a restaurant every weekend. With the fabulous weather here right now, it usually involves a fun patio. Restaurants are typically less busy then too, so any sort of ruckus we make won't bother too many people!

Last weekend, Olivia was feeling the music on the patio and got up and danced (notice the tutu and rain boots--these are becoming more of the rule and not the exception these days)
