A Baby in Doha

It has taken some time to get used to being out and about with a baby in Doha. EVERYONE comes up and touches or kisses Olivia!!! I might be okay with it if they didn't kiss her hands which soon after go directly into her mouth. I now keep a wet wipe out to wipe off her hands after anyone touches or kisses them.
The other interesting thing that has happend several times is waiters and waitresses have asked to hold her and then tell us they are going to "take her on a walk". A few weeks ago at Chili's the manager asked to hold her and then took her all over the restaurant, including into the kitchen. She was gone for about five minutes most of which, we couldn't see them. Slightly unnerving to say the least! Olivia demonstrated her true Stobaugh genes by eyeing Mike's french fries the entire time! :)

I started calling that place "kidnap Chili's"! One lady came up and was trying to take Adam out of his highchair! I told her NO, but she kept at it. He was old enough to protest as well, and finally they stopped. After that, we always sat in a booth and put him on the inside...

Don't you let anyone take that baby away from you. You're giving me a heart attack!

Is this some kind of "it takes a village" stuff?

I am so happy for your blog!! My aunt told me they also "take the baby" in Costa Rica. I think it would be hard to get used to. In China everyone touched Mckenna too. I would NOT let them hold her, but it's hard to keep them from touching her. At times I was more paranoid than others about germs... but it does get annoying. And I was only there a month! We just used hand sanatizer on her ALL the time. Oh, we also took off her shoes anytime we put her in the car... she always wanted her feet in her mouth! YUCK!
